IE9, not for XP →
Good to see them finally drawing a line under XP support. Something that perhaps should have happened about 2 years before Vista went into development. If you use IE (by choice or otherwise), this is as good a reason to go Windows 7 as any.

Bloom Box - Power Station in a box.
Via SlashDot Based on tech that’s been around for years in the various space exploration programs, full-cells. A toaster sized ‘bloom box’ can produce enough electricity to power an average US home, and it can use things like natural gas or even landfill harvested methane as a fuel. I’ll take three. Stacks more details and marketing propaganda on the Bloom Energy website.

Tax the Internet? umm, no.
via PCWorld “You could say it’s a public safety issue and do it with general taxation,” Public safety? Really? Can you imagine that meeting? ‘Guys! Great idea! Why don’t we tax people that use the Internet?! That’ll help pay for the hundreds of thousands of hours it’ll take to make an Operating System that doesn’t resemble a block of swiss...

ASUS: iPad is just a big screen iPhone
From Electronista “We will have similar products. We have a couple of projects under way.” Good for them. They are focusing on what the iPad’s shortcomings are before one single device actually ships and building a strategy around that. Hot Tip: A diverse product lineup (e-readers, apparently) that have better specs on paper isn’t how you ‘beat’ Apple’s...

9mm Self Contained Solar Power System
From the University of Michigan “Millimeter-Scale Nearly Perpetual Sensor System with Stacked Battery and Solar Cells.” Also known as ‘friken tiny solar powered battery charger that can be used to make small robots that will take over the world’…or medical robots/implants, sensors, monitoring systems or any number of sci-fi-ish tech. Freaky and amazing.

Microsoft spends more than 9 billion on R&D
From ComputerWorldUK Saying things like “We’re going to change and reinvent our company around leading in the cloud” and spending $9 billion on R&D doesn’t mean anything if you don’t actually *have* a product. Steve Jobs said it best: “You know, our friends up north spend over $5 billion a year on R&D and yet these days all they seem to do is try to...

Tip: Move windows between Spaces with the keyboard
I’ve been using OS X for a few years now, it still amazes me that there is so many little things like this that make it awesome to use. You can also use this method to move the window directly to a numbered space — just select the window, then press Control-1, -2, -3, etc. This is my preferred method of moving a window to a space, as it seems by far the quickest. If using the mouse is...
