Xbox.com getting a major overhaul →
The upgrade will give you more access to the features that were exclusivly on the console and and a bunch of intergration for Windows Phone 7.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: Despite the horrendous hardware problems, XBOX is the best brand and the best product Microsoft has.
Ironically, it’s also the only thing they do that is ‘Apple like’ - fully...

Apple’s Quarterly Revenue Tops $20 Billion →
Speaking of making a lot of money, $20 Billion in a quarter and $4 Billion profit.
And that was before they released the shiny new, and much cheaper MacBook Air. Which I predict will sell like iPad’s…err…hotcakes.

Palm Pre 2 →
This thing is pretty cool, really like the look of WebOS too.
I’d go as far as to say if the iPhone didn’t exist and you could get them in Australia, this is the phone I’d have.
Without seeing it in real life, my only gripe is the slide out hardware keyboard - that was a great idea in 2005.
I’m yet to see an implementation that doesn’t make the device look and feel...

There's something fishy about that Lion.
So here’s the thing…I’ve been watching Apple keynotes and special events for long enough to know that what you should be focussing on in the ‘demo’ isn’t always the thing you get the most information out of.
In fact, I’ve become pretty good an picking out little details in real time, often I don’t even go back and check what I just saw - I just...

HOW TO: Accept Credit Card Payments on Mobile... →
Interesting that all the solutions need plug-in hardware to work. Making a phone/mobile device into a glorified EFTPOS terminal is a stop-gap technology.
The future for this sort of thing is software, no physical cards required. A service provided by your bank with an app (on whatever platform web/iOS/Android) to access your virtual cards.
Of course physical cards aren’t going away anytime...

A bug in Windows XP? I’m speechless.
What’s so scary about this is that it’s not been fixed for so long, surely some sort of record.

– Toshiba’s no-glasses 3D TV: How it looks
And this friends, is why 3D TV is farcical. First a glasses for every member of the house, now you need to sit just in the right spot or it doesn’t work. Crazy.
Let’s hope this is the precursor for proper holographic or some other...

The ‘AudioScope’ from Squarehead Technology - 300 omnidirectional microphones arranged in perfect symmetry around a central camera. Let’s you ‘zoom in’ on sounds. Cool tech.

Star Wars: Battle For Sloth →
“…ends up being only slightly more pleasant than crawling into the slit belly of a dead Tauntaun.”
Bland graphics and terrible gameplay? Nothing worse than an obvious and lazy attempt to cash-in on a popular franchise.

Hey! Looks like you're false advertising! →
There’s no excuse for trying to buy developers or advertising apps that aren’t going to be available.
Smells a little like desperation, which is nuts because Windows Mobile 7 actually looks pretty good.

“It felt computerey.” →
Joe Belfore from Microsoft talking to Wired about Windows Mobile 6 and Windows Phone 7.
I never hold my breath for a ‘knock your socks off’ product launch from Microsoft but I am genuinely excited looking forward to see some real competition to iOS and iPhone.
One of the key things I‘ve noticed about Microsoft in the last 12-24 months is the change of language, particularly...

Every time DataRobotics release a new version of the Drobo, I want to buy it: 8-bay, 3RU Drobo with dual Gigabit interfaces and Drobo Sync for automatic replication.
Want.

The Folly of Conventional Wisdom →
Excellent article explaining Apple’s segmentation strategy and how brutally effective it is.
My favorite quote: “…the top three mobile handset unit sales ‘leaders’ (Nokia, Samsung, LG) are outselling Apple in raw units an astounding 23.5 to 1, yet for all of that effort, combined they are garnering only 82 percent of Apple’s profit level.”
Bottom line -...

– Time Warner boss Jeff Bewkes
I totally understand not wanting to undervalue your core product, but these are totally different markets. The people you are renting 99c per episode too are far more likely to be the same people that would steal your content if you don’t give them an easy way to...
